"We designed Talent Jam to help kids face their social fears and show off their talents. When everyone is involved, it's fun to let your guard down and show your true self."

— Dr. Anton & Dr. Rebecca, ThinkPsych founders

How to use

  • At Home
  • In the Classroom
  • In Therapy

Pull out Talent Jam at family game night, a party, or a rainy afternoon when you want to get everyone laughing. Draw a challenge card and take turns performing.

The more everyone is willing to be silly, the more fun it gets. It is a great way to get the whole family laughing together, whatever their age.

Use Talent Jam for brain breaks, class celebrations, or SEL activities focused on confidence and self-expression. Draw a card and let students take the floor.

Performing in a safe, playful setting helps kids build the confidence they can carry into presentations, class discussions, and everyday social moments.

Talent Jam gives therapists a playful way to target social anxiety, self-expression, and confidence in individual or group sessions. The game format gives kids a real reason to step outside their comfort zone.

Also works well in exposure-based work with anxious kids who need graduated practice with performing and taking social risks.

FAQ

What kinds of challenges are in the deck?

Talent Jam includes 120 challenge cards across four categories: singing, drawing, movement, and talking. You might be asked to sing a song in a funny voice, sketch something silly, do an animal impression, or take on a tongue twister. The challenges range from quick and silly to ones that take a little more effort, so there is something for every personality and comfort level.

What ages is this best for?

Talent Jam is designed for ages 8 and up and works great all the way through the teen years. The challenges are easy to jump into and fun for kids at a wide range of comfort levels.

Can shy kids play this?

Yes, and shy kids are often the ones who benefit most. There is some gentle peer pressure, but that is part of what makes it work: when everyone is being silly together, it is a lot easier to be silly yourself. As the laughs add up, shy kids tend to relax and build real confidence.

How many players does it work for?

Talent Jam works best with 3 to 6 players. The voting element means you need at least three people for the standard game, though players can skip or modify the voting element to make it a two player game.

Can it be used to target social anxiety in therapy?

Yes. Talent Jam is used by therapists working with socially anxious kids and teens as a graduated exposure tool. The challenge cards provide a structured, low-stakes way for clients to practice tolerating the discomfort of being seen. It works especially well in group therapy, where kids get to practice performing in front of peers in a supportive setting. In individual sessions, therapists can skip or adapt the voting element.

This is a very fun family game. All the game parts are excellent quality and it is easy to play. My 4 year old can play, he just needs help reading the cards. The green cards are Draw cards where it gives you some silly object you have to draw. Blue cards are Talk cards that have tongue twisters that you have to say. Yellow is Sing, they ask tell you to sing a song that either you or the "audience" pick and you have to sing it in some silly voice or doing some goofy action. Red is Move, pretty self explanatory in that it asks you to do some kind of physical action. You roll the color dice to determine which color card you have to pick. Then you do what the card says and the "audience" uses numbered tokens to vote on how they think you did. Whoever has the most tokens wins. Very easy game play and fun for the whole family.

I bought this game for my son and his friends (ages 10-12) to play during hangouts. It reminds me of Cranium with its four different colors and varied categories. However, unlike Cranium, this game isn't team-based; everyone can participate either performing or judging. This aspect is crucial because their attention spans are short, and active involvement keeps them engaged and interested. With Cranium, we struggled to finish games as their attention waned, especially when it wasn't their team's turn and they became distracted. In contrast, they really loved this game. It's not overly challenging, and the cards can be reused and played repeatedly. Another plus is that it doesn't require a board and can be played anywhere.

Active game for all ages

So much fun for all ages. Our family with kids between 5 and 15 years of age - Everyone had a great time - lots of laughs and much more interactive then typical board games. Gets everyone involved and moving around.

Purchased as a gift two games for two separate families with children ranging in ages from 6 yrs old to 15 yrs old. Both the parents and the kids had so much fun playing this game together. The grandmother also told me she played the game too and enjoyed it immensely.

I love the different options of challenge cards! They are flexible and silly so even if someone is self-conscious about singing or drawing, there are other options. I like the group aspect of it too! It’s a great bonding activity for my elementary students!

We didn’t exactly play by the rules because the kids are a little young, but pulling out some of the cards and trying them were a lot of fun. Once they get a little little older, we will try the whole game, but I think it’ll still be a lot of fun.

This is a great family game to play to get to know one another as well as Laugh so hard!!!!! It is a hilarious game! Love it!

Six and seven year old love this game and ask to play it nightly, and the three year old can sort of get in the mix.

Basically, everyone get some tokens to give out and as each person takes a turn doing a talent from a card draw, the others dole out the tokens to rate the execution of the talent. Whether your talent is "draw", "sing", "perform", or "move" is determined by dice. After four rounds, whoever has the most tokens wins.

The pros are game play is easy, and yes, the kids do laugh.

The downsides are the rating system leads to a predictable set of winners and dancing around fairness and preserving feelings in handing out points, so it is not really meaningfully competitive. Also, the cards are repetitive, and many have a "you choose" quality that requires you to develop your own prompts.

As a regular game-nighter, I like a family game that is either explicitly collaborative or competitive and feels a little less like homework.

I get together with friends on the weekend for Game night and this game delivers a lot of fun! It's really fun with a group of people. There are 120 cards and each one has either a sing, draw, move or perform. You vote for the funniest performance on each round. IT's a lot of fun!

It is a pretty fun game, but many of the challenges are repetitive in that they are worded similarly using the same characteristics.

Haven't played with the family yet. But I did go through the game/cards. Looks really easy to play. Simple to catch on.

We played this game last night with three 13-14 year old girls, and three adults. We had a blast!!! Everyone laughed, got out of their comfort zone, and had a great time. Keeping three teens engaged is not always easy, but this game drew them in and kept their attention. Two of the teens were new to us, but we were all very comfortable and felt like we knew each other well after the game. We went on to play a few other games, as they didn't want to stop having fun! A few caveats: there are some physical movement challenge cards that require being able to stand/pantomime, potentially get on the floor, so anyone with disabilities or lack of flexibility would probably need to modify the game to make it more inclusive. Otherwise, this is a game all ages can play. Solo or in teams, it goes fast (four rounds per game.) This could work as an adult retreat icebreaker, teenage lock in group game, family reunion, or Saturday night around the family table. The game can be played over and over, as each challenge can be made unique. Four categories: Sing, Draw, Move, Perform. This gives everyone a chance to shine and show their creativity. And laugh. Ages 8 and up seems right, though our youngest player was 13 and oldest was 66. This is a very fun and funny game and we highly recommend it.

There are multiple ways to play the game. The instructions are the type that you want to keep handy as you get started, maybe play a practice round to get familiar with it. Based on some of the cards I read, this game will be fun to play.

This game is so much fun. 7 and 10 year old as well as the adults had lots of laughs. It's a perfect game for family entertainment. We all found out our talents and our not so talented sides! I will be bringing it on vacation for night and rainy day entertainment.

Quality materials, compact packaging, and relatively fun game for kids, teens, and adults. However, some of the cards (which are essential to this game) are not as fun filled for players especially for those unfamiliar with Disney song lyrics and certain dance moves. Additionally, there are other cards related to singing non-Disney songs, drawing, and acting that also lack in fun factor. There's also a card that directs the player to spin around in a circle for 20 seconds than walk a straight line. Unfortunately, this action can lead to tripping / falling / bumping into an object, and/or potential injury. We opted for the Solo Show game option which was enjoyable although I removed the "less than fun and unsafe" game cards in advance. The concept is good just wish the game cards were better!

This game is a welcome addition to our family game night. We like the charades cards the best but there are also cards for drawing and singing. Laughter helps our family connect and this game definitely does that. I've already recommended this game to a couple of family members.
