How to use
In Speech Therapy
In ABA Sessions
At Home
Use Language Learning Cards to target noun labeling, receptive identification, and vocabulary expansion in individual or small group sessions.
Pick your set by age and skill level: First Nouns for early learners, Level 2 Nouns for building breadth, People Set for actions, body parts, and emotions. The clean white backgrounds keep clients focused, and the thick cards hold up to daily use with no laminating required.
The multiple-exemplar format supports generalization training directly. Run discrete trial teaching across all picture examples before probing generalized responding.
Designed by BCBAs, the cards use clean, no-distractor images on white backgrounds, ideal for DTT. The thick cards hold up to repeated handling, saving you the time of making and laminating your own.
Use the cards for short, structured vocabulary sessions at home. Name each picture together, ask your child to point to the one you say, or play simple matching games.
The thick, durable cards hold up to enthusiastic little hands, and the clean, simple images help children focus on one new word at a time.
FAQ
What's the difference between First Nouns, Level 2 Nouns, and the People Set?
First Nouns is for ages 18 months and up, covering 50 foundational words across animals, food, and household objects. Each word has 3 picture examples (1 real photo and 2 illustrations), and the back of each card has Feature Function Class prompts. Level 2 Nouns is for ages 2+, covering 150 words with 1 real photo each and sight words on the back. The People Set is for ages 3+, covering 75 words across actions, body parts, and emotions with 2 real photos each and sight words on the back. All three sets have 150 cards and can be used independently or together.
What's on the back of the cards?
It depends on the set. First Nouns cards have Feature Function Class prompts on the back, designed to support deeper vocabulary work and concept building. Level 2 Nouns and People Set cards both have sight words on the back, giving you a bonus literacy tool built into the same card.
What ages are these designed for?
It depends on the set. First Nouns starts at 18 months and works well into the preschool years. Level 2 Nouns is designed for ages 2 and up. The People Set is designed for ages 3 and up. All three sets are used most commonly in early intervention through kindergarten, and remain effective for older children working on foundational vocabulary or language delays.
Can these be used with nonverbal children?
Yes. Receptive identification tasks like pointing, matching, and sorting work well for children who are not yet using verbal language. Many SLPs and ABA therapists use Language Learning Cards as part of a pre-verbal or early communication program, targeting comprehension and attending before expressive labeling.
What makes these different from other flashcards?
A few things. They're designed by BCBAs, printed on extra-thick, durable cards, and use clean white backgrounds with no distracting details so children stay focused on the target word. Most sets also include multiple examples per word. Because they're ready to use right out of the box, they save therapists the hours usually spent making and laminating their own cards.
Each picture card features additional details on the back to teach your children adjectives, actions, and categories associated with each word. Great for ABA therapy!
Three pictures for each word create so many possibilities! Students can learn with multiple examples and practice matching similar pictures.

Research tells us that multiple examples are crucial for lasting learning. We include male and female models for each word in the set.
For the 150 First Nouns Cards in our set, we include adjectives and actions on the back of each card to help expand the language learning. The other 300 cards include sight words for kids to practice reading!
Half of the words in the set include multiple picture examples to promote generalization. This ensures that kids learn to recognize that things can change shapes and colors but have the same name. Also great for teaching matching!
